Memorial Day Fourteen Peaks Hike

Twelve-mile ascent of 14 challenging peaks!

Miles of challenging hiking and climbing to 14 peaks overlooking the Hudson River Valley in an uncrowded section of forest. The views are unmatched! Several of our guides have proclaimed this their “new favorite hike.”

We begin our day adventure at sea level, but will climb a total of one thousand vertical feet! There are many ascents and descents, hitting 14 high points over the course of this hike.

You will have many different vantage points over the Hudson River and the rolling mountains on its banks. We make a long loop path, so you won’t see the same thing twice, only spectacular views, diverse terrain and foliage, and gliding birds of prey overhead. This hike is not for inexperienced or unfit hikers: though it is only seven miles, there are numerous long climbs and descents over rocky trails, making it a rugged and challenging hike.

Event Details

  • Bring Your lunch and at least three liters of water (minimum per person).
  • Wear Comfortable athletic clothing, hiking boots, sunscreen, hat
  • Departure time 8:00 AM. Check in at 7:45 AM. Please check weekend subway schedules! Our trips leave on time.
  • Departure Location Northeast corner of 73rd and Broadway in front of Apple Bank. Subways 1, 2, 3 to 72nd Street.
  • Return Time Approximately 6:00 PM
  • Please note: This is a long, strenuous hike. We will keep a rigorous pace. Therefore, only the fit-to-very fit should sign up. If you are not sure, please try one of our less-intense hikes first. Or call/email us so we can discuss your fitness level.

There is no typical Outdoor Bound participant. While ages typically range from 20 to 50, those who come to experience outdoor adventure range from singles to couples, from lawyers to waiters. They are a mix of women and men. While the group is always diverse, you will certainly feel welcome. Our guides go the extra mile to make the atmosphere of each trip social and fun. Many people in the Outdoor Bound community have forged lasting friendships as a result of our trips.

New Experiences

Skydiving, ice-climbing, hot-air ballooning, skiing and hiking every weekend are just a few of Outdoor Bound’s year-round adventures. These trips are accessible to everyone, including the novice, who might feel a little uneasy, the young urban professional trying to get away and even the adrenaline junkie looking for a new rush.
