Connect to The Roots of Your Food! Part Three of a Three-Part Series

The culminating event in our Know Your Farmer series: organic farm tour! What does “organic” even mean, anyhow? This is an exciting new excursion that directly reconnects city dwellers to the roots of their food supply with a get-down-and-dirty approach, literally. Turtle Shell Health teams up with Outdoor Bound Adventures to deliver an action packed day-trip that allows participants to re-acquaint themselves with the benefits of naturally grown, sustainable, family farm foods. In order to combat the food deceptions frequently perpetuated by mainstream propaganda, each excursion is a chance for concerned individuals to better understand their food choices, and gain an open and personal relationship with their local farmers. Guests will also enjoy a natural, straight-off-the-farm lunch meal complete with cooking instructions by a professional Chef. Trips may vary in group sizes, duration and distance. But they all involve some minor dirty work and having tons of fun doing it. In collaboration with Inner Clarity Wellness and MyTempO! Productions and presented on the company’s YouTube channel as part of an ongoing collaboration of positive lifestyle videos.

The Tour

The expectations of each excursion for participants can be different, but the main benefits
include:

  • To witness first-hand how the food chain begins and ends up on your plate
  • Offer folks an adventure close to home that is fun, active and productive
  • Educate folks about the importance of buying and supporting locally grown food
  • Show the difference between big agriculture/factory/conventional farming vs. family owned/grass-fed/sustainable/hormone, antibiotic & cage free farming
  • Give folks the opportunity to volunteer some of their time to assist in the farm’s daily chores
  • Offer farmers and guests an opportunity to foster new relationships and new business

Event Details

  • Meet 8:00 AM at 73 & Broadway, NE Corner, in front of Apple Bank; return approximately 6:00 PM
  • Bring Your lunch, 2 Liters of water, snacks, jacket
