High Peterskill Hike in Minnewaska

Summer view: if you missed snowshoeing with us this past winter, here’s your chance to hike the beautiful High Peterskill trails in the Mohonk Preserve, in the famous Shawangunk Ridge.

The first half of this hike we will climb and descend 500 feet twice, over 4 miles. Under our feet will be intensely folded metamorphic rocks on this rugged and beautiful path through dense hemlock and rhododendron forests. In the landscape you will see the effects of glaciers in the last ice age.

We will continue our day by hiking down a gentler carriage path with less elevation…
