5-Mile Moderate Hike, Autumn’s Bounty! 

Join other single outdoor enthusiasts as we follow a series of trails in a hilly area known for its numerous lakes and impressive views. There are also opportunities for some bouldering, if you’re up for it! There’s magnificent scenery along the way and fine vistas from the tops of three mountains. Lunch at a stunning lake, where we will rest.

This is a rigorous 5 mile hike! Over 4 hours, we will gain 1300 hundred feet in elevation. We’ll keep a brisk pace, and there will be obstacles--streams to cross, logs in the trail, rocky/craggy paths...and it’s well worth the effort.

After the hike, a 30 minute drive to a premier NY State orchard for 7 varieties of apple (McIntosh, Cortland, Rome, Red and Golden Delicious, Empire, Macon) and pumpkins! No NYC apartment in October is complete without one. Pay for what you pick; you may also buy local cider, honey and jellies.

  • Bring: Lunch, 2 liters water and money for the picking
  • Departure Time: 8:00 AM (meet at 7:45 AM for check-in.)
  • Return Time: ~6:30 PM
  • Departure/Return Location: 73rd Street and Broadway, NE corner (in front of Apple Bank). 1, 2, 3 to 72nd Street.
