Itinerary
Friday > Arrive at Private Campsite in the Gunks
Friday:
We will depart from NYC after work on Friday and head straight for the Gunks. We’ll settle into our gorgeous private camping spot, cook dinner, have drinks and relax near the river. Kayaks available for an evening paddle on the river.
Saturday > Rock Climbing, Yoga and Kayaking
Saturday:
Breakfast early, then off for a thrilling day of rock climbing with top guides! All levels welcome. All gear and full instruction provided. Our guides will set up multiple single pitch routes up to 5.8. No matter what your level of climbing, you will have plenty of options to challenge yourself.
Late in the afternoon we arrive at the secluded, private campground in the beautiful Hudson Valley. After we settle in, we will light the fires, cook a delicious meal and relax. Explore the property, or chill out—but don’t go to bed…yet!
At dusk we will take a walk on the property to an overlook near the Hudson, and have a late-night yoga practice! It is quite a different experience outdoors, and at night. Your senses are heightened, your spirits will soar. A 1-hour restorative yoga session will stretch our climbing muscles and mellow us for the evening.
If you care for an evening paddle on the river, kayaks are available. We will have beer and wine available for those who care to drink. We return to our tents, where we will turn in for a good night’s rest in the fresh air.
Sunday > Yoga, Swimming & Hiking
Sunday:
This morning, we will rise early (7:30-8:00 AM), perhaps a morning swim and start the day right with a 1.5 hour morning yoga session. Our vista will include a stunning view of the upper Hudson Valley, river and the Catskills beyond.
We will return to camp to pack up, and disembark for our hike in the stunning Shawangunk Mountains. We’ll do a 7 mile hike with spectacular views and some moderate climbs. Along the way, or perhaps atop the mountain—we will hold our last yoga session.
After a thoroughly active yet relaxing weekend, we will head back to NYC around 7:00 PM revived, stretched and restored.

Experienced, Fun & Qualified Guides
From cycling across the United States to leading horse treks through New Zealand to scaling Nepalese peaks, Outdoor Bound guides have real-world outdoor experience. Collectively, they have hiked, biked, climbed and kayaked tens of thousands of miles around the globe.
Whether their professional backgrounds are as teachers, personal trainers, artists, environmentalists or business leaders, they all have an extensive knowledge of the natural world and local history. Each guide has also passed a rigorous guide certification program and is trained in wilderness first aid or as a Wilderness First Responder.
Diverse & Interesting Groups
There is no typical Outdoor Bound participant. While ages typically range from 20 to 50, those who come to experience outdoor adventure range from singles to couples, from lawyers to waiters. They are a mix of women and men. While the group is always diverse, you will certainly feel welcome. Our guides go the extra mile to make the atmosphere of each trip social and fun. Many people in the Outdoor Bound community have forged lasting friendships as a result of our trips.
New Experiences
Skydiving, ice-climbing, hot-air ballooning, skiing and hiking every weekend are just a few of Outdoor Bound’s year-round adventures. These trips are accessible to everyone, including the novice, who might feel a little uneasy, the young urban professional trying to get away and even the adrenaline junkie looking for a new rush.
Environmental Awareness
“Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures,” is the Leave No Trace motto embraced by Outdoor Bound. From purchasing bamboo T-shirts to printing with soy-based inks on recycled paper, Outdoor Bound strives to create the least environmental impact possible while on trips and in the office.
