Boxing & Beer
Fun 1.5-Hour Boxing Training Group Class with Pro Trainers!
Come work out your aggression in a fun group boxing training class! You will experience real boxing without having to pay for it with a fat lip.
We are going way downtown, to one of New York’s most esteemed old-school boxing gyms, Trinity Boxing. This is a boxing training class and all the punching is done on bags, not bodies.
A dedicated 1.5-hour session with professional boxing trainers will give you a killer workout! These are not random gym trainers. The trainers at Trinity are also competition boxers; many are on national teams and title-holders.
Our trainers will give us an introduction as they wrap all our hands and wrists. We will start with a cardio warm-up of jumping rope and stretching. Next, we will learn boxing techniques and shadowbox. Jab, cross and duck!
Then it is on to the heavy bags where we practice our moves as the trainers work among us. One by one, we will step into the ring to throw some punches with the trainers holding focus pads. You will feel just like Rocky by this point — or Jim Braddock, if you prefer.
You are not done yet… Time for some conditioning work: plyometrics! Two-partner work with the medicine ball doing sit-ups, woodchoppers, squat and throw. Just when you are about to drop, we will cool down and loosen up with some shadowboxing and skills review.
Après-Workout
Now, you have earned your beer! We will really loosen up around the corner in O’Hara’s Downtown Restaurant & Pub. We will throw down pints of Coors or Yuengling, or well drinks — first round is included in the price! Order a burger, sit back, and discuss who had the most powerful jab. You will enjoy this fun, social fitness event.
All of this on a weekday night. Sure beats the gym!

Experienced, Fun & Qualified Guides
From cycling across the United States to leading horse treks through New Zealand to scaling Nepalese peaks, Outdoor Bound guides have real-world outdoor experience. Collectively, they have hiked, biked, climbed and kayaked tens of thousands of miles around the globe.
Whether their professional backgrounds are as teachers, personal trainers, artists, environmentalists or business leaders, they all have an extensive knowledge of the natural world and local history. Each guide has also passed a rigorous guide certification program and is trained in wilderness first aid or as a Wilderness First Responder.
Diverse & Interesting Groups
There is no typical Outdoor Bound participant. While ages typically range from 20 to 50, those who come to experience outdoor adventure range from singles to couples, from lawyers to waiters. They are a mix of women and men. While the group is always diverse, you will certainly feel welcome. Our guides go the extra mile to make the atmosphere of each trip social and fun. Many people in the Outdoor Bound community have forged lasting friendships as a result of our trips.
New Experiences
Skydiving, ice-climbing, hot-air ballooning, skiing and hiking every weekend are just a few of Outdoor Bound’s year-round adventures. These trips are accessible to everyone, including the novice, who might feel a little uneasy, the young urban professional trying to get away and even the adrenaline junkie looking for a new rush.
Environmental Awareness
“Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures,” is the Leave No Trace motto embraced by Outdoor Bound. From purchasing bamboo T-shirts to printing with soy-based inks on recycled paper, Outdoor Bound strives to create the least environmental impact possible while on trips and in the office.
